We will make 24 short films from 24 communities around the globe, inspired by the impact of COVID-19 and combine them into 3 feature films.

The Plan

Dream it.

Carefully assembled production teams have been set up all over the globe in more than 24 countries ready for pre-production.

Film ideas and short film scripts of up to 25 minutes in length are pitched through the website by anyone with a bright idea.

The best international stories about COVID-19 from the news are collated onto a document and will be mailed to our collective every week to provide inspiration to writers.

24 film ideas will be chosen from all the submissions and then written and developed virtually by the local and international teams during isolation.

Build it.

As the scripts enter the second draft we will plan production, engage more crew and will cast actors via self-taped auditions.

This process will give purpose, hope and meaning in a time when we are house-bound and in great need of all three.

We hope to capture the imagination of established filmmakers, musicians and actors who are driven to help their community by offering their services or mentoring an emerging artist..

With the attachment of distinguished team-members, we aim to attract additional financial support from studios and film godfathers.

Grow it.

Established filmmakers may chose to direct a film or supervise emergent directors.

Established writers may submit their own scripts or offer to edit and develop new scripts.

We understand that different types of films require different types of budgets. All funds raised through the Antiviral Film Project umbrella will be distributed based on the needs of each film and each country.

To help unify each film’s vision composers will write scores while the scripts are in 2nd draft which can be used on set to establish the tone and rhythm of the production.

Secure it.

These films will be produced in liaison with all unions. We will partner with them to negotiate how we can work together in this uncertain, unique time.

Profits resulting from the distribution of the films will be fed back to the film-makers in their respective countries and given to a charity of their choice.

The Antiviral Film Project will be coordinated from Los Angeles and produced virtually, in conjunction with local teams around the world.

Shoot it.

Once we emerge from self-isolation the teams will jump into active production, while the broader film industry is not yet ramped back up.

We will aim to shoot the films within weeks of the end of quarantine in each country.

We will partner with major studios and production houses to assist with logistical needs like securing unused studio space, sets or equipment.

We will work with post-production houses to donate their skills or unused editing bays to complete the films.

Share it.

We will combine the short films to make 3 full length feature films, each comprising of 6 to 8 scripted short stories, with a common theme and thread that holds them together.

The Antiviral Film Project is partnering with a new state of the art distribution model, which will assist in delivering the films across multiple platforms.

We will work with our partners in TV networks around the world to present the project on their platforms as an international display of unity.

A proportion of the profits will go back to the local film-makers to support their communities.
